The advent of sophisticated digital imaging technology has brought many changes to the science of radiography. Computer monitors have replaced light boxes. Darkrooms have given way to data centers. And cabinets once full of film have been replaced by servers holding terabytes of data.
The transfer and storage of this massive volume of information requires a fast and reliable data pipeline. For this reason, the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology formed a cooperative of research laboratories, with the goal of sharing IT resources to create a new high-speed data network. Today, this secure and reliable gigabit network interconnects our laboratories and links them all to the campus backbone.
